I just found out that one of my websites would allow me to make slideshows of picture galleries.  So I decided to try it out first here on this blog.  If you know a senior who would like some rockin' senior pictures send them here www.seniorzrock.com.

El Toro Curioso

blogphoto.jpg Tuesday, 25 November 08 - 10:59 AM (GMT -05:00)
By Mark Moore in Photography

For those of you who've never had any exposure to Spanish the title of this post is "The Curious Bull".  I was taking pictures for some friends last week and we had a visitor to the photoshoot.  I couldn't pass up the opportunity to shap the shutter.  The photos are for their adoption dossier and I don't think this shot would be appropriate for that, but it's one of my favorites.

Here is another one with NO BULL.

My first band competition . . .

blogphoto.jpg Sunday, 19 October 08 - 10:45 PM (GMT -05:00)
By Mark Moore in Photography

It was a long, cold yet enjoyable Saturday evening for me.  I photographed my first ever high school marching band competition - The North Buncombe John L. Perko Classic.

I'm not really a "band person" - even though I did play the baritone sax in my junior high school band.  I don't think I've ever been to a marching band competition.  I have to admit I was a little nervous, but I actually had fun!  Each band had 15 minutes to get on the field, play their show and get off the field.  I found myself thinking after several of the bands, "they didn't play long enough".  Anyway, just wanted to share one of the several hundred shots from the evening.  Because Enka High School took top honors for the night here is a shot from their routine.

It's that time of year.  What time of year?  The time of year to start thinking about Christmas pictures and Senior pictures.  I don't know how to say it tactfully so I'm just going to say it.  I'm available to take some pictures for you and your family.

Anyone interested in the Asheville area?  As of now, I will available in the Asheville area on October 17th and 19th.  Interested in the Charlotte area?  I have some afternoon and weekend availability.  If interested, I have some October specials.  Just send an email to mark@markmoorephoto.com.  If you want to view some of my stuff just click on the image below.  It's a work in progress . . .

PS. I'm still doing the LTW thing, just trying to be creative in supporting my family!

Daniel and Jessica are married!  I know some of you have been checking for pictures so I thought I would put one up so you would know for certain that they did get married.  I haven't even looked through all the pictures yet, but I'll put up more this week.

Foot Fetish?

No, I don't have a foot fetish.  The last time I took a picture of feet was in Honduras last spring break (here).  This past week Amy had painted Mariah's toenails and she wanted me to take a pictue of her feet (maybe Amy has the foot fetish).  Anyway, I liked the picture after I looked at it on my computer tonight.  So, Sunday night's blog post . . . feet!

Save Polaroid

blogphoto.jpg Tuesday, 11 March 08 - 09:31 PM (GMT -05:00)

You may or may not have heard that Polaroid Corp. announced on Feb. 8, 2008 that they were going to discontinue production of the instant film that many have grown to love over the years.  In recent years it's made a comeback and become cool.  If all my stuff wasn't in boxes from our recent move I would have pulled out some of my old polaroids for this post (maybe later).

Last night around 10:00 p.m. Mariah decided she wanted to get up.  She looked so cute in her pajamas that I had to get my camera out and take a few photos.  So in honor of polaroid I made this polaroid collage of my favorites from last night's photo shoot (You can click on the photo and view a larger version).

If you are interested in joining the campaign to "save" polaroid you can visit this website (www.savepolaroid.com).

For those who just check this site to see how Mariah is doing, you can tell by the pictures she's doing great.  She gets her external CI devices this coming Monday.  Her world is going to be rocked!

Photography as ministry?

blogphoto.jpg Wednesday, 05 March 08 - 10:09 PM (GMT -05:00)
By Mark Moore in Photography

The past two Sunday's I've been able to take my camera to church with me.  I've been so excited.  Many of you know of my passion for photography and ministry.

A couple years ago I had a friend say, "Mark, I think you went into missions so you could take pictures."  When you take about 3000 - 5000 pictures in Honduras each summer I can see how someone could say that. (BTW, a travel magazine in Honduras used one of my photos recently - how cool is that?)

Amyway, I wanted to share some photos from my church's children's ministry (Bethlehem Church - Children's Ministry Website).

Just playing around with the camera and computer

blogphoto.jpg Thursday, 21 February 08 - 08:20 PM (GMT -05:00)
By Mark Moore in Photography

kids . . .

I've said it for years, if I did anything other than missions it would be photography.  I love photography and playing with my pictures on my computer.  This evening I had the task of putting together some pictures for Mackenzie's cheerleading coaches.  So I got a little creative and played around with some of the photos.  Thought I would share them here.  Enjoy.

First Photo Shoot of 2008

blogphoto.jpg Sunday, 06 January 08 - 10:22 PM (GMT -05:00)
By Mark Moore in Photography

My New Bow

We had our first photo shoot of the year with Mariah.  She had on my favorite outfit and Amy made her a new bow (yes, Amy makes incredible bows for the girls).  Just like her hearing aids, she likes to pull things out.  A bow looks nice in her hair, but she doesn't leave them in long.

I can't believe it, but this is my first post of the year.  I'm trying something new this year.  Smaller photos . . . but you can click on the photo to see a larger version.

Today I had a photo assignment . . . Christopher Culpepper needed an 8x10 BW Glossy for his audition for the Brevard Music School.  So, since he was coming down, Courtney and Nicole came as well.  It was good to see them.  Here's a couple shots from the day . . . .

Annual Photo Christmas Card

blogphoto.jpg Tuesday, 11 December 07 - 10:55 PM (GMT -05:00)
By Mark Moore in Photography

I know it takes longer, but I like making my own stuff when it comes to photographic stuff.  Here is my most recent creation.  Our annual photo christmas card.  I know you can get pre-made 4x8 photo cards, but I like to make my own!  So there!!

Oh, BTW, I learned this week how to make rounded corners in photoshop.  It took me back to my childhood when photos came from the photo lab with the corners rounded.

If you are so inclined, you can click on the photo to see a larger version.

Family Photo Shoot - Week One

blogphoto.jpg Tuesday, 13 November 07 - 10:39 PM (GMT -05:00)
By Mark Moore in Photography

This evening I decided that I would add a weekly element to my blog.  It's kind of a photo blog at times anyway.  It's hard for me to do a post without a photo.  So I decided that I would do a photo shoot each week and upload a few pictures.

Tonight we were thinking about sending some pictures to Mariah's foster mother in Guatemala and wanted to showcase her little chunky belly.  It was a little warm in the house anyway (David already had his shirt off) so we stripped her down to her diaper.  Maybe you can see why her doctor put her on a diet a couple weeks ago . . .

Yes, I have a muffin top and that's a good thing at my age!

I love mobility!

Everything goes into the mouth

I thought this one would be good for David's wedding video . . .

Too funny to pass up!

blogphoto.jpg Saturday, 29 September 07 - 11:25 PM (GMT -05:00)
By Mark Moore in Photography

Spotted this photo on another blog and thought it was too funny to pass up.  It's a real photo from the University of West Virginia (apologies to my friends in WV).

For the record, that's senior Johnny Dingle and freshman Scooter Berry.  Separately, theyre rather innocuous components of one of America's top five teams.  Together they form the world's largest dingleberry, weighing in at a whopping 535 pounds.

El Heraldo Honduras Photo of the Month

blogphoto.jpg Friday, 13 April 07 - 10:05 PM (GMT -05:00)
By Mark Moore in Photography

I got a call this morning from Honduras.  It was Daniel.  He was excited.  He wanted me to know that the above photo was selected as the photo of the month for the El Heraldo Newspaper in Honduras.  We just returned from a month of ministry in Honduras.

One of my daily activities while in Tegucigalpa was to check out the paper each morning to see the "La Foto Del Dia" (The Photo of the Day).  I saw some good photos and bad photos.  So I thought, if that photo could get printed, some of mine could get printed.  Before we left for Santa Fe, I sent in two photos.  The next day the above photo was "La Foto Del Dia".  I didn't know it for a week because I was out of the circulation area.  Yet, when I returned to Tegucigalpa it was hanging on the refridgerator at the Gomezes house.

Needless to say, I was excited today to know my photo was selected as the photo of the month.  Below you can see the real photo instead of the scanned copy from the newspaper.

Picture of the Week #6 - Ghost Rider

blogphoto.jpg Thursday, 12 April 07 - 10:22 PM (GMT -05:00)
By Mark Moore in Photography

I took this photo in Danli, Honduras with a 3 megapixel point and shoot camera I borrowed from a friend (ryan cauble).  We had taken our mission team to use an internet cafe and I walked across the street to take a photo of them sitting on the sidewalk.  I noticed a few bike riders going by so I waited for the next rider and captured him as he came into the frame.  To be honest . . . it really freaked out a couple of our team members.

This past week's assignment in the photography class was flowers and trees.  Here's my offering in the flower category.  BTW, I took this photo in a local greenhouse.  It was really cool, my first time in a greenhouse.

Picture of the Week #4

By Mark Moore in Photography

This is my "offering" for the photography class I'm teaching.  This past week's assignment was "architectural details".  I found this unique light on a log house in Barnardsville, NC.  Many of my readers will not know where Barnardsville, NC is . . . its just east of Jupiter, NC.
